Kiener Route – Long’s Peak – 2003

One of the first trips where we had a digital camera with us. Kev and I drove 18 hours straight through, hiked to Chasm Lake and slept under a boulder. Got rained on all night. Woke early and climbed the Kiener Route on Long’s Peak. Brutally cold. Wanting to climb in warmer weather we fled to Boulder to climb the Flatirons. 48 hours later, Kev dislocates and breaks his ankle on the first rapel off the Third Flatiron. It was a long drive back home.

I love photos where the subject is in less than ideal conditions and you can see it all over their face.  Below, I am anything but warm and my frozen hands are a constant reminder of my self-induced misery.  Such is fun.
